Warehouse tasks

A task moves or counts stock on the floor. A batch decorates a blank. A shipping bin is a tote for an order, not a shelf.

Where

Inventory → Tasks

Filters: All, Pick list, Putaway, Restock, Count list. Finished and removed tasks drop out of the queue; open Recently closed to see them.

Generate… makes a restock or a count list. Putaways come from receiving. Picks come from a batch.

The page shows the warehouse for the location picked in the sidebar. With more than one warehouse, switch it with the Warehouse picker at the top.

Putaway

Opens when you confirm a receipt or finish a stock order run. Each line shows the garment, a Suggested location, and the quantity.

Place all

1. Leave the quantity as received.
2. Keep the suggested location, choose another, or scan the item then the bin under Scan barcodes (optional).
3. Click Complete on the line.

To shelve every open line at its suggested location in one go, click Complete all as expected.

House units go to a house slot. Seller units go to that seller's slot. A slot that holds another owner refuses the line.

Place fewer

Type the number you actually placed and click Complete. A box opens: Shelve quantity differs from received. Pick one:

• Keep the rest open: the units you placed are shelved, and the rest stay on this task as a new line. Use this when the rest are still in the tote or on the cart.
• Or declare a variance: pick a reason (Misplaced, Damaged in handling, Not found in tote, or the reason for units put in the wrong bin). The line closes at the number you placed and the gap is recorded on the task. Use this only when the units are really gone.

Cancel and use received qty puts the number back.

To keep a line open you must place at least one unit. Placing zero needs a variance reason.

Place more

Entering more than received only offers the variance reasons. The extra units are shelved and recorded.

Put away with the handheld

On the warehouse handheld, open Putaway.

1. Scan the box: the carrier label or the purchase order number. The screen shows two lists:

• To production: units already tied to orders, by batch. They go to the floor, not to a shelf.
• To put away: each item, how many, and its bin. Every open putaway task for that purchase order is on one list.

1. Scan any bin on the list, in any order. The list is a reference, not a route.
2. The items for that bin show with their amounts. Press ENT to confirm. To change an amount, type the number first and press ENT. With more than one item in the bin, F2 moves to the next item.
3. Fewer than expected asks where the rest is:

• ENT Rest goes in another bin: the rest stays on the list for a later bin.
• F2 Damaged: the gap is recorded as damaged.
• F4 Missing: the gap is recorded as not found.

More than expected is refused so a mistyped number never adds stock. Count again.

1. When nothing is left, the screen says Putaway complete and waits for the next box. F4 on the list starts a new box at any time.

A bin with nothing scheduled. Scanning it shows Nothing goes in that bin and what is still left to put away. If you really mean to use it, press F2 (Put here), pick the item with F2, check the amount, and press ENT. The task records the bin it was meant for, the bin it went to, who moved it, and when. The usual bin rules still apply: a bin that holds another owner's stock refuses it.

A label that is not a bin in this warehouse is refused with No bin labeled and the label you scanned.

Scan each item first. To count every unit by its barcode before the bin scan, turn on Scan each item during putaway in Settings → Inventory → Handheld setup. It is off until you turn it on. With it on, the bin takes the amount counted.

Tracked by bin or not

On an item that is not tracked by bin, the line says Locations only, stock is not tracked by bin. Placing it records where the units sit; on hand already counted them when they were received. On an item tracked by bin, on hand rises as you place units. See Track by bin.

A finished line stays finished

A line can be completed once. A second tap, a retry, or two people on the same line gets Line is already complete or Line is already being completed, and nothing is added twice.

Remove a task

Click Remove, type a reason (at least three characters), then Remove task. Keep task backs out.

• Putaway: units already shelved stay where they are. Units that were never shelved open again on a new putaway task, so they are not lost.
• Pick list: held units go back to available. Units already picked stay picked.
• Restock: open lines are dropped.
• Count list: counts that were not submitted are not applied.

The reason shows on the task and on Inventory → Activity.

Pick list

Made from a batch with More → Generate pick task (stocked) for house retail and seller stock lines. See Produce an order with print and stocked items.

• A line the batch already took from stock is walk only. It reads Already taken at batch, walk and carry. Pick it into the tote; stock does not move again.
• A seller line the batch did not fully cover holds the units when the task is made, and takes them off the bin when you complete the line.
• The pick is made in the warehouse at the batch's location.

Change the quantity and Complete to pick fewer. The line closes as short, the held units you did not pick go back to available, and the slot is flagged for restock. Short that line, not the whole task.

Restock

Moves units from a bulk slot to a pick face that has dropped to its minimum. Scan the bulk bay, the item, then the pick face, or click Complete.

Set the levels per item on the pick face: on Settings → Inventory → Warehouse → Floor, click the slot and enter Restock at (the minimum) and Fill to (the target). Generate restock uses these levels to find pick faces that are low.

• Bulk empty: the bulk slot has nothing to give. The line is skipped and recorded.
• Face full: the pick face is fuller than expected. Same.

Generate restock says No pick faces below minimum with bulk stock to pull. Nothing to restock. when no slot qualifies.

Count list

Generate count list picks up to 15 locations, fast movers first, then the ones counted longest ago. Counts are blind. Full steps: Count a location.

Short a line

Do not quietly invent quantity. Keep the rest open if the units are still around, declare a variance if they are gone, or count the slot. A seller inbound mismatch is already a receiving variance.
