Build the floor — Slots & zones
Last updated August 20, 2026
The floor plan is zone → aisle → slot. One warehouse per location. The header location picker is the name.
Where
Settings → Inventory → Slots & zones
First time
If the page says Set up slots, click that. It creates the warehouse for this location. Do not look for a warehouse name field or a warehouse dropdown.
Generate an aisle
- Stay on the Floor tab.
- In Generate aisle, set Aisle letter, Zone, Bays, Levels, and Slots / level.
- Set how many units a slot can hold (capacity on the slot).
- Click Generate aisle.
Slot codes look like A-02-3 — aisle, bay, level. That is a shelf, not a shipping tote.
One SKU, one owner per slot
House stock and seller stock never share a slot. Two sellers never share one either. Putaway refuses a mix. That is the rule from What lives in the warehouse.
Zones vs a second building
An overflow room across the street is a zone, not a second warehouse. Zones already sit on the pick path.
A genuinely separate facility — its own dock and staff — is a second location. Switch the header location picker; do not add another warehouse under the same location.
Next
- Turn on the warehouse program if it is still off
- Put blanks on locations if blanks already have on-hand but no slot
