Mockups: flats, print files, and finished shots

Last updated September 11, 2026

Every designed product starts with a flat mockup of the blank — a ghost image or flatlay of the garment. You put the print file on that flat in the customizer. The images that come out are the finished mockups.

That is the default path. PSD templates and AI lifestyle photos are optional extras.

Where the flats come from

Supplier product. The feed already has ghost mockups or flatlays per color and placement. You do not upload those. They are the garment you design on in the customizer.

Manual product. There is no feed. You upload the flats yourself.

Base products → [blank] → Colors & SizesColor mockups — “Upload or replace placement mockups for each color.”

Colors and sizes

Placement mockups — PNG or JPEG, exactly 2000×2000, under 8MB. Front/back (and neck label when enabled) are required. Enable at least one placement first or the page says Enable at least one placement before uploading mockups.

Add the print file

Open the blank in Catalog. In the customizer, place the print file on the flat.

Finished mockups

Those composites — flat + print file — are the product mockups. On the listing step, Product Mockups stars the lead image (Front, then Front+Back, then the first available). You can override with the star.

A retail listing uses that starred image. You do not need a PSD or an AI lifestyle photo to sell.
